Already jailed on another charge, former NFL star Aaron Hernandez will not attend his trial in Florida stemming from accusations that he shot a onetime friend in the face.

According to ESPN, the suit brought by Alexander Bradley is scheduled to commence on Nov. 30, and reps for Hernandez have already informed the court he will not be in attendance.

Bradley alleges Hernandez shot him in the face, causing him to partially lose his sight in one of his eyes. The incident allegedly took place while the two were driving home from a Miami strip club in February 2013.

Hernandez is already serving a sentence of life without parole following his recent conviction in the 2013 execution style killing of former associate Odin Lloyd. Authorities have long speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd over his fear the victim knew of other crimes the former New England Patriots tight end was involved in.

Hernandez also faces trial on double murder charges in a 2012 drive-by shooting in Boston outside a downtown nightclub, which saw Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu dead in a hail of bullets at a stoplight.

Authorities have argued Hernandez opened fire on the two men after one of them accidentally spilled a drink on him earlier in the evening and failed to apologize. He has pleaded not guilty and is expected to go on trial sometime early next year.

The 25-year-old Hernandez is currently being held at the Souza-Barnowski Maximum Security facility, though his attorneys are seeking to have his original conviction overturned on the grounds of jury misconduct.

Lawyers for Hernandez argue that one of the jurors on the panel, which ultimately voted to convict, mislead the court about knowledge of other accusations against the defendant.
