Serena Williams Halts, Chases Thief After Trying To Steal Her Phone
On court and off court, four-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams indeed knows how to take down her opponent. When a guy tried to steal her phone, she chased and took him down just like a pro.
According to the Daily Mail, the tennis megastar shared in a lengthy Facebook post that she was grabbing some dinner with a friend. As the pair sat down, the 34-year-old player noticed a man lurking beside her.
Thanks to her "superhero sense," which told her to keep a keen eye on the man, the tennis star became vigilant when she knew that things just "didn't feel right."
"Is he a customer? Is he waiting on the bathroom?" Williams said she asked herself as she tried to keep watching over the man from the corner of her eyes. All of a sudden, the man grabbed her cellphone and quickly left the Chinese bistro they were dining at.
In an instant, Williams shouted to halt the thief. But to no avail, the thief did not stop, hence, the sports lady channeled her super skills combined with all the trainings she did for the sport she loves.
"I jumped up, weaved my way in and out of the cozy restaurant (leaping over a chair or two) and chased him down," Williams said. "He began to run but I was too fast. (Those sprints came in handy) I was upon him in a flash!"
But when she reached to the guy, the tennis star was kind enough not to be aggressive on him. "In the most menacing yet calm no nonsense voice I could muster I kindly asked him if he "accidentally" took the wrong phone," Serena said.
Still at shock, the guy responded: "Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone."
The player also shared that after what she had done, she received applauses from people around her. She added that she was proud of standing up against men bullies as her feat was a "win for the ladies."
According to CNN, Williams' "super hero" experience earned favorable reaction from her fans.
"Ok ladies don't be stupid and chase every man," one fan wrote. "In this situation it turned out well. Another case might be different if this person carried a weapon. Your life is more precious than your material goods.
"In saying that, I applaud you for standing up for what is right. So well done super Serena," another fan said.
Out of 56 matches this season, Williams won 53. For it, she earned five titles and a $10 million prize. Williams is also the top rank woman tennis player in the world.
