'The Originals' Season 3 Episode 5 Recap: Klaus Reunites With His Old Flame Aurora
Thursday night's episode of "The Originals" was very intriguing as Klaus (Joseph Morgan) received an unexpected visit from his former lover, Aurora, while an ancient secret left a deep wedge between the Klaus and his brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies).
"The Alexman's Letter" included a number of flashbacks that gave viewers insight into Klaus' tragic love story with Tristan's (Oliver Auckland) sister, Aurora, who came to New Orleans to reunite with him, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The two fell in love around 1002 A.D. and shared deep dark secrets with one another along with a hot and steamy romance. Aurora also tricked Rebekah into turning her into a vampire so that she could be closer with Klaus. However, their relationship came to a tragic end, leaving Klaus heartbroken after she broke up with him.
In the present day, Klaus finally learned the real reason why Aurora broke up with him. It turns out that Aurora broke things off with him after Elijah compelled her into seeing Klaus as a cruel and wretched monster. Although Elijah said that he did that for Klaus' own good and to protect their family so that they could flee the country without her, Klaus felt betrayed and hurt once he learned the truth.
When asked why she chose to reveal the truth behind their breakup, Aurora told Klaus that she came to New Orleans to spill the beans because of the prophesy. She also confessed to murdering Lucien's seer. In addition, Aurora plans to change the future to protect Klaus from Elijah, who she thinks is a threat to his safety, reports Buddy TV.
Meanwhile, during an interview with KSiteTV, executive producer Michael Narducci teased what's to come in Hayley's marriage to Jackson.
"It is very clear that he loves her and has great affection and respect for her and wants to be a good husband to her and I think she has come a long way with her feelings towards him, but with all things that goes with our show, there are forces that will always conspire to destroy every single character in our series and along the way," Narducci said.
"Alliances will be made, people will be placed in jeopardy and Hayley is going to find herself to deal with difficult decisions to choose between this man she married who is now her family, and the father of her daughter, and the brother of the father of her daughter of the other family who is also her family because they are the people who are connected to her daughter, so when people are making moves against one family and then making moves towards them, what does she do?"
He added, "I think it is very clear that Elijah carries a major torch for Hayley and has respectfully decided to stay out of the way and he has suffered quietly."
