Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas have split only after five months of dating. It's believed their respective busy schedules were to blame for the breakup. However, a source recently claimed that Hadid's ex Cody Simpson is partly to blame. Likewise, Jonas reportedly took cue from his split with Taylor Swift and broke up with the model over the phone.

A source told OK! Magazine that Jonas somehow felt like he wasn't welcome into Hadid's life. Even though they were already dating and became an official couple, he felt like Hadid was still not over Simpson. The 26-year-old reportedly felt like Hadid didn't want to be close to his family and would rather prefer to spend time with Cody's family.

"He felt like she didn't want to get to know his family. She would spend her days off with Cody's mother and sister," the source said.

The source further claimed that Jonas felt neglected and unsupported by Hadid. He has reportedly been very supportive of the model's fashion shows, even cheering for her at the Paris Fashion Week, and "tweeting up a storm" about her projects. But Hadid on the other hand did not do as so much promote his new single and video when it came out.

"She didn't mention a word about it," the source told OK! Magazine and claimed that Jonas finally ended the relationship over the phone.

"He felt like he wasn't wanted around anymore and that he deserves better than being someone's second-to-last choice," the source added.

People broke the news of the couple's breakup. A source informed the publication that Hadid and Jonas had trouble making their relationship work because of their busy schedules.

"Nothing serious happened ... it wasn't a dramatic break up. It was just hard to make it work with their schedules. They will definitely remain friends," the source told People.

It seemed the couple had already split during Halloween since they were both celebrating the event separately. Hadid was reportedly at Heidi Klum's annual New York party while Jonas hosted a Halloween dinner and spent it with his brother Nick and bandmate Cole Whittle.

Hadid and Jonas started dating this summer and were first spotted being intimate with each other at a bar in New York in June. They recently made their red carpet appearance as a couple at the Global Lyme Alliance inaugural gala in New York in October.
