Angelina Jolie Talks About Apprehensions Doing Nude Scene In 'By the Sea'
Angelina Jolie recently opened up about her apprehension doing her nude scene in "By the Sea."
The actress revealed she had a momentary reservation to show her naked body because of her double mastectomy operation.
Jolie talked about her film with her real-life husband Brad Pitt in an interview with the New York Times. The actress revealed there was one particular bath tub scene that she wanted cut or change after she realized that she would have to appear nude.
"I realized it was going to be me [naked] in that bathtub. But I told myself, put all of that aside. Like, you can't change or cut this scene because you've had a mastectomy, or because we're married and people are going to analyze this or that. That would be cheating," she said.
The actress admitted that she didn't initially want to star in the film, thinking that it would only create trouble in her marriage with Pitt. However, the total opposite happened. Jolie told the New York Times that starring in the film together with her husband only bonded them even more together and gave them life lessons.
"By the time we got to the end of the film, we'd argued, challenged each other, disappointed each other, had good days, bad days, all of it. We'd pushed through, learned something about each other, found a new working relationship and came to like the idea of 'Yeah, it gets really bad, but you work it out,'" Jolie said in her interview with the publication.
In February 2013 Jolie underwent a double mastectomy to lessen the chances of her getting breast cancer, which cause the death of her mother Marcheline Bertrand.
Appearing nude in "Love By the Sea" may have momentarily daunted the fearless actress, but it was all for a good reason. After all, the movie was inspired by her deceased mother.
During an interview with "The Today Show," the actress revealed she wrote "By the Sea" for her mother. A lot of the scenes in the film harkened back to her memories of her mother.
Jolie said in the interview that the film, which she directed, produced and wrote, shows her memories of when she saw her mother's reaction when she first learned she had cancer.
The movie reportedly also shows her visits to the hospital and her memory at seeing how upset her mother looked when she learned that her ovaries have to be removed.
