Donald Trump on 'SNL' - Video Highlights and Recap
Donald Trump's "Saturday Night Live" hosting performance is viewed by some as less than the 2016 Republican presidential frontrunner's finest hour.
Entertainment Weekly instantly panned the Nov. 7 episode as "some spectacularly unfunny sketches peppered throughout the night." And that's the highlight of the review.
Critics for the magazine add, "but more that, the majority of the night's content just seemed to lack effort."
It all begs the question of if all the protest about criticism Trump and NBC endured over their decision to have him serve in such a capacity was truly worth it.
In one sketch, Larry David predictably cries out "Trump's a racist" from the side of the stage and in another he obligatorily hints at his long-running feud with former "The View" host Rosie O'Donnell.
But to know Donald Trump is to know the bottom line is all that truly seems to matter. And word is, with Trump at the helm, "SNL" posted its highest ratings since 2012.
According to NBC, the show had a staggering 6.6 household rating, easily toppling last month 41st season premiere hosted by Miley Cyrus and with Hillary Clinton making a special guest appearance. Overall, network officials are hopeful the night's show could prove to have attracted more than 10 million viewers.
"I get the best ratings," Trump boastfully told reporters prior to the show.
Back in August, Trump proved as much when he attracted 24 million viewers for the first Republican debate, a Fox record, and roughly a month later when 23 million watchers tuned in to see him in the same role on CNN.
The "SNL" gig marked the second time Trump has hosted. He previously did the honors in 2004, when he was still serving as host of the NBC show "The Apprentice.".
