UFC: Vitor Belfort Wants Luke Rockhold Next After TKO Win Over Dan Henderson
Vitor Belfort finished his trilogy with Dan Henderson via a first-round knockout in the main event of UFC Fight Night 77 at Sao Paulo, Brazil last Saturday night. "The Phenom" also set the record for most knockouts in UFC history with 12 and is now interested in fighting the top contender for the UFC middleweight title, Luke Rockhold.
"There's a guy, Luke Rockhold that keeps talking a lot. He's talking a lot, he's a talker. Disrespectful guy. Really good, talented, but I've got my eye on him," Belfort said at the post-fight press conference via MMA Fighting.
Rockhold immediately responded on Twitter when he heard about Belfort's comments after his win over Henderson. He was defeated by the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion last May 2013 in UFC on FX 8 via knockout in the first round using a spinning heel kick and punches.
The 31-year-old American made some comments about the Brazilian MMA legend during an appearance at the Bloody Elbow's Three Amigos Podcast. "The guy's living a lie and he's trying to cover it up the best he can. Vitor has been dirty his whole career. There are a lot of guys that cheat, and then there's Vitor. It's just another level. He's just on everything you could possibly imagine, and it's been that way since he was 19 years old," he said.
Belfort admitted to failing a random drug test administered by the Nevada Athletic Commission in February, per Sherdog. He also said that he stopped using testosterone replacement therapy on the same day of his admission and the NAC banned all therapeutic use exemptions for TRT just a month later.
He was also involved in an alleged cover-up by the UFC ahead of his title fight against Jon Jones at UFC 152. According to MMA Mania, the UFC issued Belfort a TUE for TRT even after he tested positive for elevated testosterone, which was almost thrice above the average level for his age.
The report added that the UFC knew about Belfort's test, but they let him fight and lose to Jones. A few UFC fighters, trainers and managers accidentally received an email of the test result and were threatened with legal action if they speak about the subject.
Luke Rockhold is scheduled to challenge UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 194 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
