Coach Byron Scott of the Los Angeles Lakers admits being "wrong" after the team failed to draft New York Knicks' rookie player Kristaps Porzingis.

Expected to nail the second pick on the 2015-2016 NBA draft, Porzingis landed the fourth pick when the Los Angeles Lakers chose D'Angelo Russell instead, according to CBS Sports.

It's not that the Lakers team thinks that Porzingis might have been the better choice, Scott only observed that his aptitude would have greatly helped the Lakers team and he has surely proved his value more than what people expected of him.

The Daily News caught up with Byron Scott and this is what he had to say about Kristaps Porzingis' performance. "He really didn't show any fear. We just thought it would take him sometime. Obviously, we're a little wrong about that."

He also adds that there's really no way they can test a player's heart, which shows how dedicated a player can be in the sport. In Porzingis' case, he definitely has the hunger to play and that's what will make him stand out in the future. Apparently, it's not only Scott who thinks cleverly of the Latvian player, but also Lakers' star Kobe Bryant. At some point, the two highly compared Porzingis with German player and Dallas Mavericks' star player Dirk Nowitzki.

Kristaps Porzingis, 20, has been given significant amount of play time by New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher. This gave the young power forward enough time to show and hone his talent on the floor. Knicks president Phil Jackson compares the Latvian player to former Lakers player Pau Gasol, versatile and experienced. Porzingis is a Latvian professional basketball player and his experience on court can also be highly credited from that. Despite earning high praises during workouts, Porzingis fail to impress the Lakers management and join their roster.

Meanwhile, according to the Lakers Nation, it may take at least two seasons before the team can actually gauge Russell's caliber and know if they made the right choice choosing him over Porzingis.

That being said, the Lakers roster may still have something positive up their sleeves. Their roster also includes Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson. The Los Angeles Lakers are currently 1-5 in the Western conference, only breaking their three consecutive losses when they went against the Brooklyn Nets. They posted their fifth loss against the New York Knicks on Nov. 8. Their last game has been the culmination of answers whether they were right about not choosing Porzingis.
