Now that Fifty Shades of Grey is done filming, its cast has the chance to look back at the characters that they hope to successfully bring to life for fans of E.L. James' erotic novel.

Victor Rasuk, from HBO's How To Make It In America, plays Jose Rodriguez, a photographer who hopes to make Kodak moments with Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson.

"When I played the role of Jose, I related because it's the girl that got away or the girl you always loved and ... I'm sure everyone can relate to that," Victor told Variety Latino. "It wasn't easy, but it was definitely fun because it tapped into something that is so personal to me and to anyone else, to tell someone that you really like them...."

The 30-year-old, who is of Dominican descent, was able to connect the character to his Latino heritage.

"His love for her is not passionate, but like we say in Spanish, he has a 'cariño' for her, and that's sort of how Jose is with Anastasia, but he doesn't come out at her right away," Rasuk said.

Rasuk also revealed that there is at least one difference between the upcoming movie adaptation and the book from which it is based.

"It'll make some people see it as 'I don't know, bro, I would have done it differently' or some will say 'Why didn't she fall in love with him?'" Rasuk explained. "It portrays it exactly how the book portrayed Jose trying to sway Anastasia, but the outcome is a little different. I don't want to give it away."

Meanwhile, Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian Grey, has not said much about the upcoming role. According to his on-screen mother, Marcia Gay Harden, who plays Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, this is a good thing.

"I think the point is to have somebody mysterious because if you have somebody with too much pedigree to them ... you can't stop thinking about the pedigree," she told Associated Press. "You just can't. It's almost impossible in a film to do that. ... I think that would be very hard to do for that role, so I think it's good that he's a bit of a mystery."

Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015. A trailer is expected to be released soon as filming has been complete since early March.
