After several gunshots were fired on Monday at the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, Michigan, the local mall and nearby schools were put in an emergency lockdown. Now, the mall is back in its normal operations.

On Monday, gun shots were reportedly heard on the corridors of the local mall in Michigan according to Dearborn Police, as reported by the Detroit Free Press. "We do not have anyone in custody," Dearborn Police Sgt. Paul Doulette said.

Furthermore, according to Doulette, the police "believe that the suspects are gone" right after the shooting near an Orange Julius Juice store in the mall, leaving no injuries or fatalities.

After the alleged four gun shots, the mall insisted that the shoppers leave for safety purposes and closed the mall for hours. Nearby schools also sent their students home upon learning about the incident.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn and the Henry Ford College were put in lockdown after students received emails about the shooting incident at the nearby mall, WWJ Newsradio 950 reports.

The schools also canceled evening classes, even when the mall itself reopened at 7 p.m. later that day, WXYZ reported.

Meanwhile, after hours of investigations, the Dearborn Police released a statement on Twitter announcing the safety of the grounds after the 4 p.m. incident.

"Police are on scene at Fairlane Town Center, situtaion [sic] is under control and there is no known risk to the public," the Dearborn Police said in a statement posted on Twitter.

However, despite the safety announcements, the alleged shooters are still reportedly on the loose and haven't been brought in custody. Reports claim that the shooting may or may not be from an attempted robbery or a dispute between the alleged shooters inside the mall near the Macy's store, The Detroit News reported.

The Detroit News further reports that the incident at the local mall located in west Dearborn off Michigan Avenue and Evergreen is still being investigated.

The incident is a development story and as of the moment, no further updates have been released.
