'Fifty Shades Darker' News Update: Marlon Wayans Spoofing 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Films
For fans who will not be able to wait another year for "Fifty Shades Darker," Marlon Wayans will slow their appetite.
In two months Wayans is returning to the spoof genre with "Fifty Shades of Black." The Wayans alongside writer Rick Alvarez will parody the popular film and novels written by E.L. James. The film will star Jane Seymour, Kali Hawk, Mike Epps and Fred Willard. Tina Grimm, Kate Miner and Andrew Bachelor will also appear in the movie.
The film will be the latest in the spoof genre, which Wayans created alongside his brother back in 2000 with "Scary Movie." That film was a spoof of "Scream" and also featured parodies of the "Matrix" and "The Sixth Sense."
Since then other parodies have been created, including "Scary Movie 2," which was a parody of "The Exorcist" and "The Haunting," and "Scary Movie 3," which parodied "The Ring" and "8 Mile." "Scary Movie 4" later parodied "War of Worlds," "The Grudge," "The Village," "Saw" and "Fahrenheit 911."
Wayans later made "A Haunted House," which parodied "Paranormal Activity" and "A Haunted House 2."
"Fifty Shades Darker" is currently in pre-production with author E.L. James and her husband Niall Leonard currently working on the script to the film. James Foley will direct the upcoming sequel, and it is rumored he will film and direct the third film in the franchise.
Jamie Dornan will star as Christian Grey, and Dakota Johnson will return as Anastasia Steele. The film is also slated to feature Rita Ora and Luke Grimes. Casting for the remaining roles has not yet begun.
The sequel to the box office hit will hit theaters on Feb. 10, 2017 with Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca producing alongside James.
"Fifty Shades of Black" is directed by Michael Tiddes and is slated for release on Jan. 29, 2016.
