After the smash hit of Season 1 of "Scream" on MTV, Season 2 is about to shake up the series, both in front of and behind the camera.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there have been some creative differences between the show's production arm Dimension TV and the series showrunners for Season 1, Jill Blotevogel and Jaime Paglia. The disagreement has led to their departures from the show, and they have now been replaced by frequent series collaborators Michael Gans and Richard Register.

Although Paglia will no longer be involved with the series, Blotevogel will remain onboard as a consultant moving forward for Season 2 and possibly future seasons.

While some considered the first season a success, the ratings were not what the producers expected. The show had to overcome critical reviews, and it only averaged about 755,000 viewers per episode. Still, the freshman series was renewed in the middle of its 10-episode run.

The show is based off the Kevin Williamson franchise that started in 1996 and spawned three sequels. The late and iconic horror director Wes Craven helmed all four films, which achieved overwhelming box-office success and became instant cult classics for horror fans.

Blotevogel developed the series along with Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, who together penned the original script, which closely followed the Williamson film series and the rules he set forth for the franchise.

Craven had come onboard to oversee development and production of the series, before he passed away in August. Williamson had no involvement with the series at all.

Season 2 of "Scream" is expected to premiere sometime next summer.
