Qualcomm Snapdragon 820: Newest Processor to Offer Fast Downloads, 3D Audio
Qualcomm has released its latest Snapdragon processor: the Snapdragon 820.
The company has been responsible for powering many Android phones with various chips, and the new Snapdragon 820 will offer smartphones some excellent advanced features.
Qualcomm completely redesigned the chip, making the 820 capable of generating updated graphics, better photos, longer battery life and much more, Tech Radar reports.
Possibly the most important new feature in the Snapdragon 820 is its speed. Paired with the new X12 LTE Modem, the Snapdragon 820 is capable of download speeds up to 600Mbps and upload speeds up to 150Mbps. Downloading apps, music and videos, as well as web surfing, will all be essentially instant. Actual speeds will vary by network, but this will make most Snapdragon 820 users very happy with their mobile Internet experience.
The screens on phones equipped with the Snapdragon 820 will offer 4K displays. This is not the first chip to offer 4K displays, but the 820 will help the screen look more realistic, with better coloring, lighting and shadows. With 4K screens, smartphones with the new Snapdragon chip will also be able to utilize virtual reality technology.
Audio on Snapdragon 820 phones will also improve thanks to 3D Audio. The feature gives audio from smartphones the effect of surround sound through headphones. Even the low-quality headphones that come with smartphones will provide excellent sound quality. Users will also be able to record 3D Audio when they shoot their own videos.
With excellent displays, 3D Audio and excellent graphics, the Snapdragon 820 will be able to produce an excellent virtual reality experience. As users explore virtual worlds, the Snapdragon 820 will ensure they don't experience lag.
Pictures will also look even better thanks to the Snapdragon 820. Qualcomm says pictures on equipped phones will look just as they actually appear to normal eyes.
Finally, battery life will improve with the Snapdragon 820 up to 30 percent over the last Qualcomm processor. Improvements to the efficiency of the CPU, GPU and modem allow the battery to last longer.
