After nine years of keeping our eyes glued to the television screen, the popular CBS series How I Met Your Mother is finally coming to an end. The final episode of Season 9 will air on March 31, and many television viewers have formulated their own predictions for how the series will end.

Some viewers are predicting the death of the Mother in the season's finale. While some might consider the death of a titular character at the end of the show to be foolish, there are valid suggestions for this prediction.

The strongest argument for this version comes from a scene in the episode The Time Travelers, which saw a teary-eyed Ted ranting in a monologue to the mother that elicited notions of the declining health of the future wife.

The Internet has been busy as followers of the drama series search for any and all hints as to how the show would end.

Another prediction is that Ted is found out to have Alzheimer's disease, making him physically present but mentally absent at the wedding. This prediction is based on the scene where the kids were forced to take a seat to listen to his story of how he and their mom met.

Josh Radnor, who plays Ted Mosby in the series, said that his final scene can be described in one word -- "circle." This cryptic statement by Radnor can mean one of the following things:

  • Ted being single once more in the series finale; or
  • Ted's telling a story to his children would be the final scene.

Pam Fryman, the director of the show, said that something had been missing so far in the finale predictions of How I Met Your Mother. She said that, while everyone is entitled to have their own opinion as to how the drama series will end, no one has been 100 percent correct. She assured that fans of HIMYM will be absolutely thrilled and pleased about how the show ends.
