‘Madam Secretary’ Spoilers Season 2 Episode 7: Elizabeth Takes the Lead on Cuban Relations, Gets Sidelined by Senate [Watch]
Following the emotionally charged episode last week on "Madam Secretary," the show will be taking a small break from the ISIS and Russia storylines and focusing on renewed relations with Cuba.
Episode 7, titled "You Say You Want a Revolution," will air on broadcast network CBS this Sunday, Nov. 15 at 8:30 p.m. EST, according to TV Guide.
There are many elements of this show that are mirroring real life as of lately. In the last episode, they dealt with ISIS and even the Russian homosexual policies that effect their U.S. operatives. But now, they are heading into the recent news of restoring relations with one of their closest neighbors, Cuba.
Elizabeth McCord will be taking the lead on this new venture, which means that she will be personally overseeing and negotiating a renewal of relations with Cuba, including lifting the U.S. trade embargo that American still has imposed on the tiny island nation, according to Spoilers Guide.
But, just like in real life, she runs into a brick wall when dealing with Congress. It might be a partisan thing, but the Senate is not going along with her plans and politics may also be coming into play. She is backed by President Dalton, which means that opposing party Senators are looking to discredit the measure.
So as one might expect, that means the Senate is blocking her progress and not giving her the support she needs to accomplish the main goal, which is to restore relations with Cuba and lift the embargo.
As usual, her husband Henry is deep within the international territory that is her mission of the week. He and younger daughter Alison are actually touring the Cuban city of Havana and that proves to be beneficial to father and daughter both. They bond well while in the tiny paradise city and come closer together.
