The Sacramento Kings are off to a bad start in the 2015-2016 NBA season with a 2-7 record. In a report by USA Today, head coach George Karl may lose his coaching job after less than a year in Sacramento.

Karl was hired just nine months ago and took over the Kings head coaching duties after the NBA all-star break. He signed a four-year, $15 million contract with $11.5 million as guaranteed money, per ESPN. The 64-year-old led the Kings to an 11-19 record to end last season.

According to Bleacher Report, if Kings owner Vivek Ranadive fires Karl, it will be the third time a head coach was relieved since he took over as owner in 2013. The report noted that it just shows how dysfunctional the Sacramento franchise is and the situation between their head coach and superstar center DeMarcus Cousins does not help.

The Big Lead reported that after their blowout loss to the San Antonio Spurs last Monday, Cousins cursed out and shouted profanities right at Karl. The coach just walked away from his angry star player and left the locker room.

The relationship between Cousins and Karl soured in the summer because the coach tried to trade his best player to Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason, per ESPN. Ranadive reportedly blocked the deal and Cousins' camp was very frustrated with Karl's intentions. The seventh coach to win 1,000 games has since apologized to his player.

The Kings was supposed to hold a players-only meeting on Tuesday, but it turned to a group meeting with the players, coaching staff and front office members all present. General manager Vlade Divac organized the meeting to address issues within their organization, per The Sacramento Bee.

"Guys and the coaching staff and the front office talked about how comfortable players are with plays, coaches with the attitudes and stuff like that. When you have a problem in the family, you address it, you talk about it. I was very pleased how we talked about it openly," Divac said.

Since the incident on Monday was reported on several news outlets, Cousins issued a public apology via Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports. The meeting probably went very well because the Kings defeated the Detroit Pistons in their next game, 101-92.
