Tom Cruise Feels Betrayed by Leah Remini's Scientology Memoir, 'Freaking out' Over Revelations?
Tom Cruise feels betrayed by Leah Remini's ongoing condemnation of the Scientology community, and he is "freaking out" about all the inside information she is revealing about him and the religion in her new tell-all "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology."
"He thinks it's a major betrayal," a source told Us Weekly.
During a recent appearance on ABC News' "20/20," the former "King of Queens" star claimed anyone who dared to utter a negative word about Cruise was looked down on by the church.
"Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself," Remini said of the "Mission Impossible" star. "You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology. You are evil."
Remini, 45, split from the church in 2013 and has since revealed she started to have second thoughts about Scientology as far back as Cruise's marriage to Katie Holmes in 2006. She added that church members tried to recruit her friends Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony at the ceremony.
"I thought, 'I now see where the cracks are in our Church, and it's [church leader] David Miscavige, it's Tom Cruise,'" Remini said. "They were bringing down Scientology."
Remini went on to share several other unflattering stories about Cruise, including one in which he allegedly suffered a meltdown over not being able to find the ingredients needed to bake cookies.
"I really don't think he cares," she recently told the New York Daily News of her critiques. "I hope one day he can live his life."
Cruise has not publicly commented on Remini's claims, but the Church of Scientology has officially disputed all her allegations.
"Sadly, bitterness and anger are common threads through Ms. Remini's life," the church wrote in a statement on its website. "Rather than take responsibility for self-inflicted problems, she is quick to blame others."
