Peru vs. Paraguay World Cup 2018 Qualifiers; Preview, Predictions, Schedule, Stream, Lineups
Peru and Paraguay will face off in the only CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier of the day.
With all the other games taking place on Thursday, Peru and Paraguay's match will be the one to watch for all the teams in South America. Both teams are off to differing starts. Paraguay has four points through two games with a win over Venezuela on the road and a solid draw at home against an underwhelming Argentina team.
In its opener, Paraguay looked headed for a stalemate in Ciudad Guyana but an 85th minute goal proved the difference between one point and three. In the ensuing game, the team managed to shut down an underperforming Argentina team and walk away with one point in a 0-0 draw.
Meanwhile Peru is facing tremendously bad luck through two games and could be due for a huge turnaround at home. In Colombia, the team dominated for long portions before winding up with a 2-0 loss against a Colombian team that was not particularly convincing with the ball and won by virtue of a corner kick and swift counter.
Then came a matchup with Chile, the best team in South America. Despite having a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes, Peru succumbed to three straight goals from Chile in the span of eight minutes. The team got another goal back at the end, but it was too little too late and a 4-3 defeat left the team with no points.
Fortunately the performance and desire to fight back against a potent attacking side showed that Peru means business and will be hungry for goals at home against Paraguay.
Prediction: Peru comes away with a 2-0 win.
Start Time: The match takes place on Friday Nov. 13 at 9:15 PM EST. The game can be watched on beIn Sport and its online service.
