Motorola Droid Maxx 2: Droid is Back With 2-Day Battery, Water-Resistant Body
The Motorola Droid is back, and this time it will have a long-lasting battery and water resistance.
The Droid Maxx 2 is Motorola's sequel to the 2013 Droid Maxx, and the highlight of the handset is the battery life, CNet reports. The Droid Maxx 2 boasts a battery that can last up to two days.
The Droid Maxx 2 is a Verizon-only smartphone that can be purchased without a contract for just $384 or $16 a month for 24 months. With the high capacity battery and water resistance, this phone could easily sell for over $500.
The battery is the Droid Maxx 2's main highlight, and it is designed to last much longer than other smartphones. With mild usage and the phone on standby, it is possible to make this phone last an entire weekend. Of course, heavier usage, like streaming video, will limit its battery life to less than one day, about 12 hours or so. The normal user of the Droid Maxx 2 will definitely be able to get at least a full day or more.
The Droid Maxx 2 does not support wireless charging, but it will support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The charger included with the phone is a fast-charging Turbo Charger from Motorola, which allows the phone to get from nothing to 25 percent in about 20 minutes and all the way to a 100 percent charge in about two hours.
The camera used for the Droid Maxx 2 is a 21 megapixel (MP) sensor. This sensor is capable of taking quality photos and 1080p videos.
The Droid Maxx 2 is water resistant but not water proof. Small splashes of water will be just fine, but the phone will not survive a dunk in the pool.
For performance, the Droid Maxx 2 uses a lower-powered processor than most of its competitors. Instead of using a Qualcomm Snapdragon from the 800 series, the Droid Maxx 2 has just a Snapdragon 617 that runs at 1.7 GHz. Most tasks will run smoothly, but high-graphics games will struggle.
For an affordable price, the Droid Maxx 2 has one of the best batteries in a smartphone. It is worth considering when looking at a new smartphone.
