‘Prometheus’ News: Ridley Scott Says 'Prometheus' Sequel Will Reveal Alien Creator
Ridley Scott recently discussed the sequels to his 2012 hit film "Prometheus," which he said will reveal the creator of the alien star of his fantasy horror series.
Even though "Prometheus" turned out to be an origin film for the first "Alien" movie, the person or thing that created the monster was never truly revealed. Scott told IGN that the alien's creator will be exposed in one of the two sequels to "Prometheus," the first of which will be titled "Alien: Paradise Lost."
Scott expressed regret for letting the original franchise get away from him following the first film, "Alien," in 1979. Although many consider James Cameron's "Aliens" as a fitting and worthy sequel, it was outside of Scott's control. He said he really wants to get back in there and resurrect the original beast.
"I'm trying to keep this for myself. I let the other one ['Aliens'] get away from me -- I shouldn't have... I'm trying to re-resurrect the beast and let if off the hook for a while because I'm coming back into the back-end of 'Alien 1.' I'm gradually getting to 'Alien 1,'" Scott said.
Questions raised by the first film still haven't been answered. The most important mystery is: Who or what created the alien creature? Why does it even exist? Of course, it could have been a natural being from space, but that would have been too easy an answer.
"Prometheus" only hinted at the origin of the creature and how it came into existence. Yet, Scott claimed there is an actual creator, and the director plans to expose him, or it.
"'Prometheus 2' will start getting shot in February and I've already begun now so I know what the script is," Scott said. "Then there will be another one after that and then maybe we'll back into 'Alien 1,' as to why? Who would make such a dreadful thing?"
To find out more, fans will simply have to wait until the next two films arrive in theaters. It remains unclear which movie will contain the crucial answers.
