There still quite a while — and plenty of Marvel content — before "Thor: Ragnarok" makes its way to the big screen. Thankfully, there are plenty of details rolling in to tide the fans over as the franchise inches towards its third installment.

The latest rumor pits a female villain against the formidable Thor, the first main female antagonist of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. A report from Lainey Gossip, the villainess will be joining the roster. Although the specific character has not yet been identified, the website mentioned a few possibilities of major villains from Asgard including Amora the Enchantress and Queen of the Dead Hela.

It's the second major female role to be inserted in "Thor: Ragnarok," since superheroine Valkyrie will also be showing up for the Marvel film according to a report from Birth.Movies.Death. Valkyrie, also known as Brunnhilde, was part of The Defenders in the comic books and was the enemy of The Enchantress. This particular detail adds fuel to the rumor of The Enchantress being part of the next "Thor" movie as the character played a big part in introducing Valkyrie to the comic universe.

Aside from the addition of women in the case, here's the rundown so far: "Thor: Ragnarok" will be helmed by New Zealand director Taika Waititi, and the cast will include franchise regulars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jamie Alexander and Anthony Hopkins.

According to a previous report from New York Daily News, Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his Avengers role as the Hulk in the upcoming "Thor" film.

"I don't really know that much about it, but I think it's going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner," Ruffalo said. "I think they'll probably fight. There's no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point."

Little has been disclosed about the plot of the upcoming movie and Ruffalo was just as vague adding, "I know that it's about (the Norse legends of) 'Ragnarok,' or the end times in the Marvel universe as it pertains to Thor - which seems to be quite the theme these days in movies."

It won't be long before more news about the cast and plot makes its way to the public as filming is set to begin in July 2016, according to a report from ABC. The third installment will be set against the backdrop of picturesque Queensland's Gold Coast.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
