‘Moonwalkers’ Comedy Starring Rupert Grint Releases New Red-Band Trailer [Watch]
The new "Moonwalkers" comedy film featuring "Harry Potter" star Rupert Grint has released a red-band trailer loaded with inappropriate content and comedy sure to make mature audiences laugh until their brains fall out.
According to Deadline, the film is based off conspiracy theories that say the moon landing in 1969 was actually a hoax, potentially filmed by famed director Stanley Kubrick, who at the time was still lawfully able to move about the U.S. without fear of arrest.
The main premise of the story is in 1969, the Apollo 11 mission was on the horizon, and it was the U.S. government who was afraid it wouldn't happen. They wanted to fulfill the promise that JFK made years before, to have landed a person on the moon before the end of the decade.
So the space race was on and they are about to start their mission. The only hiccup was what to do in the event that the landing was unsuccessful. That would be devastating for them. So they bring in a gritty CIA operative played by Ron Perlman to assemble a team to film a fake moon landing in the event that the mission was unsuccessful.
This is where the comedy comes in. The man tried to seek out Stanley Kubrick to make the film, but instead, he accidentally mistakes a London band manager (Grint) as one of Kubrick's representatives.
The band manager is deep in debt to the London underground and quite down on his luck at the time, so when he hears about all the money involved in the project, he is on track to play the faux role. The only problem is he has no real connections to Kubrick, and when he can't deliver, he and the CIA man are at odds.
That is when they both seek out alternatives to getting the staged film made, which is quickly interspersed with comical drug use and the counter-culture of the era.
