Season 3 of "Penny Dreadful" is about to add more characters to the show's growing list from classic literature, including another alum from the "Dracula" novel, as well as a few others.

According to Variety, the show had previously featured actress Patti LuPone in the role of Joan Clayton, who was also known as the Cut-Wife in Season 2.

LuPone is about to make her way back to the show, but not as the same character. This time she will be filling the role of Dr. Seward, a character who first appeared in Bram Stoker's "Dracula." That character was a man in the book, so either there has been a gender reversal, or the new character is a relative of the original character.

Either way, Seward has been described as an American therapist who is brought in to treat Vanessa Ives (Eva Green).

Fans who have been keeping up with the show through previous seasons already know that Ives is a strangely quiet heroine. She is afflicted with a terrible darkness within, which has nearly killed her in the past when it has come out. Those scenes played out in dramatic horror onscreen, but she has always been able to beat it back somehow.

Seward will approach Ives with care, attempting to help rid her of her demons, or in this case, the terrible darkness within her.

Fans will also get to see the introduction of author Robert Louis Stevenson's famous character Dr. Jekyll, who will be portrayed by Shazad Latif. It is unclear at this time if that character will be using the classic name or another one, given that he has been described as an "interpretation" of the famous Stevenson character.

Although there has not been an official date set yet for the premiere of Season 3, it has been announced that it is coming in 2016.
