The holiday season is coming together with a slew of tech goodies. One of them has been in the radar for several months: the much-anticipated Asus ZenFone Zoom. Recently, the upcoming smartphone was spotted in TENAA with specs and details getting confirmed for long-time Asus users awaiting the device.

According to a report from Phone Arena, the upcoming smartphone took one step closer to release by being certified by the Chinese regulatory agency TENAA. Included in the listing are previously unconfirmed details including a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 resolution.

Powered by an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset, the Asus ZenFone Zoom will sport a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU. Various memory options are available including 2GB or 4GB of RAM, plus internal storage alternatives of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Additionally, the device comes with a 64GB micro-SD slot that allows users to expand the existing memory of the handset.

Users will enjoy the media capabilities of the new Asus handset, especially the 13-megapixel rear camera. Alongside it is the five-megapixel camera on the front of the smartphone that's ideal for selfies and chatting on video.

Earlier this year, Asus CEO Jerry Shen made waves in the electronics circuit by announcing one impressive feature of the upcoming ZenFone Zoom: the 13MP rear camera that features the thinnest 3X optical zoom by Hoya in a handset. It's still one of the primary reasons the market is so eager to get their hands on the powerful device.

Zoom capabilities often translate into bulky device, but the ZenFone Zoom is one of the few exceptions. The new device only measures 11.95 millimeters at its thickest and weighs 185 grams.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom will enter the market priced at $399. According to a report from Phone Radar, the hotly anticipated smartphone is expected to land in Taiwan on Dec. 1.

The Taiwanese tech company is one of the leading PC makers in the industry and - to a lesser extent - also a well-known player in handset production. However, the team has announced their plans to bring innovation to another level with their own augmented reality handset.

Per a report from CNET, Shen has confirmed that the handset is in the works during an earnings webcast recently.

"It should be next year when we come out with a product," Shen revealed about the plans on entering the market. "We think AR (augmented reality) will be very important for people's lives."
