Brazil vs Peru World Cup Qualifiers 2018: Preview, Predictions, Stream, Schedule, Lineups
Brazil pulled off a solid 1-1 draw at Argentina this past Friday and will look to pick up its play in a match with Peru at home on Tuesday.
Brazil got off to a poor start against Argentina, looking overly conservative with the ball and constantly having to shut down a confident Argentina. The result was a 1-0 deficit at the half.
Coach Dunga eventually subbed in Douglas Costa. The game shifted heavily in Brazil's favor, with the Bayern Munich player drawing tremendous attention from Argentina's defense and opening up space for other Brazilians to attack.
"I'm not sure if you noticed, but it didn't seem like an Argentina stadium. Their fans were very tense and quiet inside the stadium," Dunga said, according to Fox Sports. "We failed to take advantage of that in the first half and we knew we had to take advantage of that situation. In the second half we had greater energy, though we weren't as technically good. We just tried to cause them more problems."
The one player who did not shine for his nation was Neymar, who was making his return after serving a suspension. The Barcelona superstar looked out of sorts on the attack and will be needed to help his club against a hungry Peruvian side.
Peru is coming off its first win in the qualifiers after dispatching Paraguay 1-0 at home. The team started off well against Colombia in its first qualifier, but ultimately faced an unlucky lose of 2-0. In its second game, Peru was destroyed 4-3 by Chile at home, despite holding a few leads throughout the evening.
These teams met this past summer at the Copa America when Brazil won 2-1 at the death. Few viewers will forget the pass Neymar made in that game to get Costa a shot for the winner.
Prediction: Brazil wins 2-1. Neymar has a strong game.
Start Time: 7 p.m. ET
