Reddit: Social Forum Heavily Monitoring Paris Attack Discussions
Reddit's postings and communities focused on the Paris terrorist attacks are being heavily monitored and shutdown by the site's moderators.
When searching "Paris Attacks" in the search bar on Reddit the first result is a locked thread that has been temporarily shut down in response to the Paris terrorist attacks. The subreddit is called r/unexpectedjihad.
Reddit provides an explanation on why this subreddit was shutdown:
NOTE: We have temporarily shut down the subreddit in response to the Paris terrorist attacks. None of the mods really feel like moderating a subreddit that has videos based around terrorism right now. We WILL be opening up the subreddit again in the near future. Thank you for your patience!
The moderators of this subreddit have set it to private. You must be a moderator or approved submitter to visit.
The next result is a link for Paris Attack Coverage. When the link is clicked, a bunch of unrelated results are displayed. It seems like Reddit is removing a lot of threads that have been created on the topic.
Other threads that have been allowed to remain on Reddit have very specific rules and regulations for users' posts. In the Paris Attacks Megathread there are several rules that are highlighted and it is designed to be a "serious thread only" and any jokes, puns or off-topic posts will be removed by the moderators.
Another Paris Attacks Megathread has been locked due to the comments turning to "hate and bigotry."
Freelance journalist Dan McCarthy reported Reddit might be banning discussions on the Paris attacks because they were told to by French police on Friday.
Reddit was just given a gag order by the French police to halt all discussion and reporting on the #ParisShootings. A first for Reddit?

Other social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have not banned any posts, but they could if they are told by French police.
