"Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa will have his hands full this upcoming year with new drama series "Frontier," set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in the U.S.

According to Deadline, Momoa has been very busy on both the small and big screen, filling roles that require a warrior-like actor for major action. Momoa recently added the Canadian series "Frontier" to his list of projects.

The series is a period piece that takes place in the late 18th century, following the struggle of men from many different cultures to control the fur trade in the area. Historically, fur was a major source of wealth in the new world, generating a violent struggle for the rights to the commodity.

The series will cover many different aspects of the fur trade during the era, telling the story from several different points of view. The series is expected to embrace the violence of the era, when lightning fast backroom business deals ended in hatchet fights as often as handshakes.

The show will go a little further than just the fur trade though, highlighting the clash of cultures that took place during the power struggle. The native tribes and the western Europeans who forced their way onto the lands were constantly at odds with each other, and the series follows this conflict very closely.

Netflix will be the sole provider for the show in the U.S. and Discovery Canada, who commissioned the series, will distribute the show in Canada.

The series will also star Alun Armstrong ("New Tricks"), Landon Liboiron ("Hemlock Grove"), Zoe Boyle ("Downton Abbey"), Allan Hawco ("Republic Of Doyle"), and Jessica Matten.

There has been no word yet as to when the show will premiere in either country.
