League of Legends Patch 4.5, Hacking News and Korean eSports Tournament Scandal: Reddit Forum Tells How Match-Fixing Sent Pro To Hospital
Hacking Scandal
Australian Police have arrested a 21-year-old for unlawfully accessing Riot's network, databases and files, and hijacking the company's Twitter account. The hacker allegedly made as much as $1,000 a day from the illegal sales which allowed buyers were able to expose personal details and launch DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks on Riot servers and other players from the stolen data.
Match-Fixing Scandal
An ex-professional League of Legends player named Cheon Min-Ki, nicknamed "Promise," is in serious condition today after reportedly jumping from a twelve-story building and ending up in a coma. He carried out the suicide attempt after he revealed the extent of Korean eSports match-fixing. Promise played for South Korea's AHQ eSports team, which he revealed was being used by a corrupt manager to throw games and lose on purpose to profit off of illegal betting profits.
"Our manager Noh had lied to us, and took out a loan to pay for our housing, living expenses, computers, and even our salaries. He was planning on placing illegal bets on eSports games and fixing them to win back the borrowed money and make a profit," he said.
Patch 4.5
League of Legends Patch 4.5 is to be released sometime in the summer. After patch 4.4 reworked Kassadin, rumor has it it's Gragas' turn to be tweaked. Here are the proposed changes:
Barrel Roll: Damage reduced, now slows Movement Speed instead of Attack Speed. Now deals more damage and slow for more as the barrel sits out.
Drunken Rage: Druken Rage will now have a much lower CD and duration, and grant a one time hit bonus instead of AD. Gragas can also move while drinking. No longer restores mana.
Body Slam: Body Slam now stuns and slightly knocks enemies back instead of slowing them.
Explosive Cask: Deals less damage.
