While many people see Donald Trump's campaign in the 2016 presidential race as a distraction, President Barack Obama admitted that he would have "enjoyed campaigning" against the reality television star if he had the opportunity.

During an interview with ESPN writer and editor Bill Simmons for GQ magazine -- which crowned Obama as the 2015 Man of the Year -- the president opened up about a broad range of topics, including the current election and pop culture.

When asked about Trump's candidacy in the race for the White House, Obama said, "I would've enjoyed campaigning against Trump. That would've been fun."

The president was also asked to name his favorite conspiracy theory about himself.

"That military exercises we were doing in Texas were designed to begin martial law so that I could usurp the Constitution and stay in power longer," he told Simmons. "Anybody who thinks I could get away with telling Michelle I'm going to be president any longer than eight years does not know my wife."

He added that his teenage daughters, Sasha and Malia, are also eager to leave the Oval Office, but "not as much as Michelle," although they're "certainly ready," he said.

The president went on to talk about "Game of Thrones," which he watches while during his late night workouts.

"I remember the characters, so when I watch it, I know exactly what's going on," he said about his favorite TV show. "But if you read a review of the show afterwards, and they're mentioning such and such, the only one I remember is Jon Snow, because I can pronounce Jon Snow."

However, he said that none of the characters on the series measure up to represent Trump.

"I don't think any of them rise to that level," said Obama.

Later in the interview, Obama told Simmons that he had smoked zero cigarettes "in the last five years."

The president also said he feels less burdened by his job and more "confident" as the commander-in-chief and in his decisions now that he has almost eight years of experience under his belt.
