The next episode of "Madam Secretary" will see Elizabeth McCord navigating the ruffled domestic waters following an escalation in tensions with Russia. She will attempt to weed out the source of the tensions in their own circle.

Episode 8, titled "Lights Out," will air on broadcast network CBS this Sunday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. EST, according to TV Guide.

Suffice it to say that the escalating tensions with Russia are not entirely the fault of the communist nation. It may be an issue within the President's own circle.

According to Spoilers Guide, Elizabeth will join with Russell and Mike Barnow in an attempt to oust National Security Advisor Craig Sterling. That may not be easy though, considering it could tarnish President Dalton's own name and in effect, be counter-productive to their ultimate goal.

Elizabeth and Russell were betrayed in the last episode by Sterling, who nearly derailed their plans to reopen the Cuban embassy and reestablish ties with the tiny island nation off the Florida coast.

But with the winds of war blowing all over the Russian issue, Sterling could be positioning himself to make a political advance at the costs of many lives should Dalton be pressed to pull the trigger.

So the main issue of the episode is all about how to get Sterling out of office without tarnishing Dalton's name. It could indeed be tricky, but the three have been known to pull off some crafty maneuvering when the situation calls for it, as evidenced in the last episode.

There is also another big reveal in the next episode coming to fans. After several weeks of not knowing who hacked into Air Force One in the opener, Ephraim Ware (Director of National Intelligence) finally identifies the perpetrator. This information could also escalate the tensions between the U.S. and Russia and throw the two countries into an all-new cold war.
