A high school student from the state of Washington is asking for an apology from her school district after she claims that they ruined her prom night. The reason? She was denied entry to the event because of her large chest.

Specifically, staff working the event were concerned that Central Kitsap High School senior Brittany Minder's dress was showing too much cleavage. Minder feels their action was discriminatory, and that if she possessed a smaller bust line, there would have been no issue.

"In my opinion, I feel that it is because I'm bigger chested and there is more cleavage that you can see, and there's nothing I could really do about that," she said.

The dress in question is not particularly risque. It has the same amount of coverage as just about any other dress that Minder's classmates were wearing to prom, and was devoid of any sloping cuts or revealing material. Had Minder not had such a large chest, it is likely that nobody would have said a word.

"It was blatant from the start that the school was not being fair in how they were enforcing that rule," said Minder's dad, Gary Minder. "A girl like Brittany should not have to go to a dance in a burlap sack because she's large busted. It's ridiculous."

A district spokesman has said that if a student's appearance does not meet the requirements of the dress code, than school staff will work with the student to find a solution. Staff was eventually able to find something to cover her cleavage, but that solution did little to console Minder on what was supposed to be a special night.

"I felt self-conscious and they took the magic out of the night," she said. "It was tough being there after all that happened. I didn't feel comfortable. I already had a blow to my self-esteem. I didn't really want to be there anymore."

Minder only stayed at prom for about an hour before she left, feeling quite embarrassed with the whole situation. Brittany and her family are now asking the school district to apologize for ruining a once-in-a-lifetime event for the senior.
