Recent reports claim that Rafael Amaya, star of the hit series "El Señor de los Cielos," spent thousands of dollars on drugs and prostitutes prior to his overdose.

According TVNotas, a source, who works on the production of the Telemundo Spanish-language show, revealed that the actor had been behaving recklessly for a while and reportedly spent one thousand dollars a week on cocaine.

The rumors also state that Amaya enjoyed spending money on prostitutes for himself and his close friends while filming the series.

While the accuracy of the claims still remains to be seen, the actor was shockingly treated for overdosing on cocaine in October, making him the subject of much gossip.

On Oct. 27, the 38-year-old actor was rushed to the intensive care unit at a hospital in Mexico for tachycardia symptoms from drug intoxication, reported TVyNovelas.

The actor, who plays a drug lord in "El Señor de los Cielos," was treated in a private, restricted area of the hospital. He was later reported to be responsive.

"We don't make comments about rumors about the personal life of our employees or actors. After being absent last week we are happy to know that Rafael is fine and has taken a well deserved vacation after 11 uninterrupted months of filming," Telemundo said in a statement.

Amaya confirmed the claim that he was taking a vacation, when he gave an update on his health and denied claims that he was entering rehab on Twitter.

"Thank you for being so concerned," he wrote. "Fortunately I am very well, I am not in the hospital, I'm on vacation. You keep calm, while I get nervous."
