The 2014 FIFA World Cup is the 20th international football tournament for men. The venue of the tournament is in Brazil and the event will run from June 12 to July 13, 2014. Brazil was the host of the contest in 1950 making this the country's second time as the tournament's host. In 2007, Brazil was chosen as the undisputed host nation.

A total of 32 teams are qualified to join the competition and were grouped as follows:

Group A consists of Brazil, Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon

Group B has Spain, the Netherlands, Chile and Australia

Group C includes Columbia, Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan

Group D has Uruguay, Costa Rica, England and Italy

Group E includes Switzerland, Ecuador, France and Honduras

Group F consists of Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria

Group G has Germany, Portugal, Ghana and the United States

Group H consists of Belgium, Algeria, Russia and South Korea

A total of 3,334,524 tickets were forecasted to be sold by FIFA. Most of these were allocated to various groups like media rights holders and VIPs, commercial affiliates, and hospitality clients. There were about 1.1 million tickets allotted to the general public (the breakdown of which is about 400,000 to Brazilians and 700,000 for other countries and Brazil). Sale of tickets started last Aug. 20, 2013. Tickets are sold in three categories, with prices ranging from $495 for the opening match to $990 for the final in category 1, or $220 and $440 respectively, in category 3. For the first 24 hours, 2.3 million tickets were requested and by October 2013, 6 million tickets were requested by the general public. In November 2013, around 290,000 tickets were given out on a first come, first served basis. At least 1.2 million tickets have been requested since the second phase of ticket sales.
