‘Supernatural’ Season 11 Episode 7 Recap: Possessed Items, Big Reveal for The Darkness Could Mean End for Sam
After last week's big reveal of The Darkness on "Supernatural," Wednesday's episode put the Winchester brothers back on their standard case-of-the-week trail. But there was also another big reveal in this week's episode that could spell the end for Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki).
According to Entertainment Weekly, on Season 11 Episode 7, titled "Plush," the boys got a call from Sheriff Donna (Briana Buckmaster), who was seen last season at the Sheriff's retreat getting her first taste of otherworldly creatures. The call followed an argument Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) were having about Sam praying to God for answers about The Darkness.
They put their issue aside for the moment and headed to Minnesota to help Donna locate the source of a mysterious new murder, which involved a teenager who had a bunny mask stuck on his head. The boy had already killed one man with a broken beer bottle, but there was no real motive for his actions. He was being held in Donna's jail cell, as the Winchester boys came to find out what's going on with him.
In one comedic moment, the bunny-headed teen struck at Dean from the jail bars, making the investigator jump back with a shriek. Later, the brothers found out they were dealing a possessed item. By the time of the revelation, it was too late for the boy. He attacked Donna and her deputy, and they were forced to kill him.
The team burned the mask and believed all was well. But then another mysterious attack occurred. A girl in a jester mascot uniform attacked a high school coach.
The Winchesters learned all of the items were donated by a woman who had lost her brother to an apparent suicide after he had been accused of child molestation.
The boys visited the woman and tracked down the donated items in order to burn them all. The final item, a deer mask that the man had died in, turned up on the head of the woman's son. The brothers used rock salt to release the boy from the mask after he attacked his mother, but the ghost man came out and attacked Sam. They finally burned the mask to destroy the ghost.
The episode concluded with the Winchesters back in their Impala heading home. Sam revealed to Dean that he prayed to God because he thought he had to go back into Lucifer's cage to get the answers they need to fight The Darkness. Dean was firmly against the idea, as was Sam, but the episode faded out on Sam's worried eyes.
