The buzz around a fight between Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko started almost immediately after the former won the UFC Heavyweight Championship title back in 2008. Due to the huge fan-appeal of the match-up, company president Dana White relentlessly tried to sign The Last Emperor with the UFC for a title bout against Lesnar, according to MMA Fighting.

Unfortunately, the two fighters retired and a potentially massive match never materialized. But after rumors of Lesnar's return started to surface, so did a fight against Emelianenko.

In an interview with Sherdog, White addressed the issue surrounding Lesnar's UFC comeback. He said, "I would never say never with a guy like Brock. But you know, Brock left this company in really good terms...and we've always had a good relationship with him"

"Brock has some regrets. Brock feels like during his run he was really sick, he had that diverticulitis the whole time," White added. "For most of his career in MMA he didn't know he had it and once it all really got bad and exploded, that's when he found out. He just feels like his performance could have been so much better if he was a hundred percent."

White then hinted that even though Lesnar's career with WWE is starting to blossom again, no one can really say no one can really say how long he will stay with the entertainment company. The president suggested that he's still open to the idea of Brock returning to the UFC in the future.

He commented, "He's got a good gig right now with WWE. He mended his relationship with the McMahons, and everything's good, he seems happy with what he's doing now...We'll see what the future holds."

As for a possible match between Lesnar and Fedor, the fight can still happen, as long as both parties agree to sign with the UFC. Fans may think that the Russian fighter and the UFC president are not in good terms after their failed negotiations but White explained, "There's no ill-will toward Fedor, I don't hate Fedor. I'm a fight fan just like all you guys are...I have my opinions and you have yours, and the fans have theirs."

And, according to MMA Mania, White is open to the possibility of Fedor fighting under the UFC if he ever decides to come out of retirement.
