The first promo image for "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is a picture of none other than the famous "definitely dead" or "definitely not dead" Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

"Jon Snow lives in the first promo image for #GameOfThrones Season 6," Buzzfeed tweeted along with the photo. Many fans tweeted the image as well, especially those who were already convinced he would appear in the next season.

Well, is Jon Snow still alive? The big poster up in Times Square in New York seems to indicate he is.

Ever since the warrior was last seen getting stabbed in the Season 5 finale, speculators have suggested that he did not die, or if he did, he would be brought back to life in the next season.

Producers have declared him "deader than dead," and other speculators have argued that he is just another fan favorite whom people just can't give up.

The new photo is the first and only hint into the sixth season. Snow appears in the image with cuts all over his face, looking downcast.

Harington was spotted several times near filming locations. The actor revealed that "GOT" will probably be a part of his life until he reaches his 30s, and he is currently 28 years old. Also, when HBO released "Honour The Fallen: The Memoriam Collection" to honor dead characters, Jon Snow's action figure did not come in the set.

"I've been told I'm dead," Harington said after the Season 5 finale. "I'm dead. I'm not coming back next season."

Were showrunners just keeping silent for promotional purposes?
