FIFA 16 Reviews, News: Holiday Ad Features Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero [Watch]
EA Sports has released a new advertisement for FIFA 16, featuring Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero.
In celebration of the holiday season, the strange commercial has the soccer stars sitting in Santa Claus' living room, playing a friendly match against two reindeer.
Messi and Agüero seem to be having a fun time, but their competitors quickly become frustrated that the controllers aren't hoof-friendly. They lash out at the two athletes, but an English-accented Santa offers up a kinder translation.
FIFA 16 is the latest edition in EA Sports' massively popular soccer game franchise. The game features a number of new features, most notably being the first series entry to include female players.
Twelve women's national teams are included in the game's lineup: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the U.S.
The inclusion of women's soccer players was motivated in part by a Change.org petition by Spanish national midfielder Veronica Boquete.
The game has been relatively well-received by critics, many of whom praised the increased emphasis on tactical play over power and pace.
Ben Wilson at the Guardian gave the game a perfect 5 star rating, particularly pointing to the added strategy required in women's matches, putting an emphasis on finese never before seen in past titles.
Nathan Ditum of Gamespot also gave the game a good review, praising the inclusion of the new Draft mode to FIFA Ultimate Team, and saying the developers reponsded well to competition from Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series.
According to Product-Reviews, EA will announce a Black Friday sale on in-game packs sometime later this week.
These Lightning Round packs will available at various times throughout the day, but are limited in quantity, so be sure to check in often.
FIFA 16 is available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC, Android and iOS. Check out the new commercial below!
