The Golden State Warriors have a chance to break the record for the best start in league history when they host the Los Angeles Lakers in the Oracle Arena on Tuesday night. It is the first of four meetings between the two franchises this season.

The Warriors have opened the season by winning 15 straight games, tying the record held by the 1948-1949 Washington Capitols and 1993-1994 Houston Rockets. Stephen Curry is leading Golden State again as they set their sights on history and another championship.

"Now that we're here and have tied the record, it's a huge accomplishment never know if you'll ever be in this position again. We have a great group and to be able to be in position to do something that hasn't been done in the history of the NBA with all the great teams and all the great players who have played in this league, that's special," Curry told NBA.com.

"We're trying to win another championship. That's what we're fuelled by. I think we've gotten greedy, but a good greedy," Draymond Green added. Golden State defeated the Denver Nuggets 118-105 last Sunday at the Pepsi Center in Colorado.

Klay Thompson scored a game-high of 21 points while dishing out seven assists to lead the defending champions. Curry added 19 points and seven assists while Harrison Barnes chipped in 17 points and three steals.

The Lakers have a very difficult task to try and stop the Warriors' winning streak, especially that they have struggled this season. Kobe Bryant and coach Byron Scott admitted that it is a very difficult task to beat and prevent the Warriors from making history.

"I've seen stranger things happen. We've been playing like [expletive]. We might go up there and we might play like gangbusters up there. You never know," Bryant told ESPN. The Lakers are currently at the bottom of the Western Conference with only two wins in their 13 games this season.

They lost to the Portland Trail Blazers last Sunday 107-93. It is their third straight defeat after winning their second game of the season. Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers in scoring with 19 points and four rebounds while Bryant had 18 points and four assists but shot a woeful 27 percent from the field.

The Warriors won the season series last year, winning three out of four matchups. Tip-off in Oracle Arena is set for 10:30 p.m. ET and will be televised nationwide on TNT.
