Hollywood actress Abigail Breslin, who stars as a mean sorority girl on Fox's "Scream Queens," has signed on to play another similar role in the upcoming novel adaptation of "Freak Show."

According to Deadline, Breslin will be returning to her "Scream Queen" roots to portray yet another female character who displays an abundance of intolerance and mean spirited cruelty in the film adapted from the James St. James novel "Freak Show."

The film will star Alex Lawther in the lead role as Billy Bloom, an incredibly confident and high raising teenage drag queen that just so happens to land the affections of the high school quarterback. The story is set in an ultra-conservative town that has little to no tolerance for his brand of showcasing.

The town he lives in does not hinder his determination but rather encourages him to reach for epic new heights with his journey and to put his struggle on display for the town and the world to see.

The story arc comes when Bloom decides to run for homecoming following a series of humiliating events that he has suffered at the hands of intolerance and general persecution from the town and his high school classmates.

That is where Breslin will be coming in to portray a leading role in the film. She is set to play the head cheerleader and heir to the throne of homecoming queen. But when Bloom enters the race, she feels not just threatened by him but also disgusted and even appalled he would even attempt to enter her stage and desecrate her sacred mantra, her birthright.

There is no doubt the movie will be met with criticism given the modern struggle for the LGBT movement and the strides it has made.

The film will also star Bette Midler, AnnaSophia Robb, Ian Nelson and Lorraine Toussaint. It will be directed by Trudie Styler in her debut at the helm.
