'NCIS' Season 13 Recap: Can Bishop Avoid the 'NCIS' Relationship Curse?
Will Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) prove to be the latest crew member to fall victim to the "NCIS' relationship curse?
During last week's "Blood Brothers" entitled episode it was revealed her marriage is holding together by a thread after husband Jake (Jamie Bamber) admitted that he was having an affair. With that, Bishop immediately set sail for Oklahoma, with the fate of their union hanging in the balance.
If Bishop indeed decides to walk, Headline & Global News reports she will join fellow team members Gibbs (Mark Harmon), DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), McGee (Sean Murray), Sciutto (Pauley Perrette) and Vance (Rocky Carroll) as agents who have loved and lost since joining "NCIS."
For Gibbs and Vance, all that comes in the form of five doomed marriages altogether, and for all the others more failed relationships combined than most anyone can count.
At this point, no one can say with any level of certainty what will come of Ellie and Jake, but it's clear they have issues.
CarterMatt points out it's not even totally clear that Jake had an affair or if he is simply letting his wife believe that he did in hopes of protecting her from something he seems to think may hurt her even more.
All this plays out as Gibbs continues to be haunted by the memory of his own near-fatal shooting at the end of last season at the hands of a young boy he had come to trust and care for.
"He continues to struggle to recuperate from his shooting and he will continue to work with Dr. Taft (Jon Cryer)," said show-runner Gary Gibbs.
In "Blood Brothers," original "Bionic Woman" star Lindsay Wagner starred as Bishop's mom Barbara Bishop. The show is now slated for a two week hiatus with the next new episode airing on CBS Tuesday night, Dec. 15.
