Golden State Warriors vs Utah Jazz: Preview, TV Schedule & Where to Watch
Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are looking to improve their 18-0 record and extend their 23-game winning streak in the regular season on Monday against the Utah Jazz on Monday. It is the first of seven straight road games for the Warriors to start December.
The Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings on Saturday 120-101 with Curry not playing the entire fourth quarter but still put up 19 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals in 29 minutes of action. "Anytime you can stay fresh and do it in winning fashion, it's fun. Obviously, I like to play," Curry said.
"I'm sure Steph doesn't like it but the coaching staff and the training staff, we're thrilled to get him that rest," interim coach Luke Walton added. Draymond Green added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists with a steal and four blocks to become the first Warriors player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964 to register back-to-back triple-doubles.
"He got a huge contract this summer and he came back a better player. He's playing at an All-Star level right now," Walton said. Green re-signed with Golden State this offseason with a five-year, $82 million deal, per NBA.com.
The Jazz are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference standings with an 8-7 record and a two-game winning streak. Utah defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday 101-87 to start their four-game homestand.
Alec Burks had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench to help the Jazz overcome a Pelicans rally in the fourth quarter. "The biggest thing with Alec, I keep emphasizing with him is his decisions. When he makes high-percentage decisions, he can shoot it, he can pass it, he can handle, he can finish," Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said.
"Early in the game he wasn't doing as good of a job at that. When he settled into the game, particularly late when he found a rhythm, he was very efficient and, obviously, hit some big shots," he added. Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood added 17 and 16 points, respectively, while Rudy Gobert grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked four shots.
According to ESPN, the Warriors are without Harrison Barnes for at least the next three games because of a sprained ankle he suffered against the Phoenix Suns on Friday. As for the Jazz, Derrick Favors will be back in the lineup after missing the game against New Orleans due to personal reason.
Golden State won the season series last year with three wins in four games and has won seven out of the last eight matchups against the Jazz. Tip-off in Utah is 9:00 p.m. ET and is available on NBA League Pass nationally and broadcasted locally on ROOT and CSN Bay Area.
