San Antonio Spurs vs Chicago Bulls: Preview, TV Schedule & Where to Watch
The San Antonio Spurs have won 11 of their last 12 games as they try to preserve the second best record in the NBA when they visit the Chicago Bulls on Monday. The Bulls, on the other hand, are battling inconsistencies on offense and want to halt the five-game winning streak of the Spurs.
San Antonio have the best defense in the league, giving up only 89.7 points per game and limiting the Atlanta Hawks to 42.5 percent shooting on Saturday at the AT&T Center. Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists with a steal and a block in 29 minutes of action.
LaMarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills added 13 points each while Tim Duncan had a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili also scored in double figures to easily defeat the Hawks, 108-88.
"The defense was the key. I thought Tony Parker and Danny Green were great defensively on Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver. That really set a tone for us. Those guys are really hard to guard, but I thought that they took the challenge and did a good job tonight," head coach Greg Popovich said.
Chicago lost to the Indiana Pacers on Friday at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse 104-92. Nikola Mirotic scored 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished a couple of assists while Jimmy Butler added 16 points, five rebounds and five assists with a pair of steals and blocks.
"Just have to keep fighting to get better. We just didn't play well especially on the offensive end as a team. Movement, get the ball swung; we're doing it in practice, getting the ball swung. We've got to carry it over to the games," Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said.
Derrick Rose has struggled since returning from a sprained ankle on Tuesday. Rose scored 10 points while shooting 25 percent from the field in the loss against the Pacers. "I felt like I played like crap tonight. It's a hard one losing like that in here, but the energy level, my energy, wasn't up," Rose said after the game.
It is the first of two matchups between these two teams this season and the Spurs have won four out of the last six games against the Bulls since 2013. Tip-off in Chicago is at 9:00 p.m. ET and is available nationally on NBATV and NBATV Canada. It will be also broadcasted locally on FSSW and CSN-Chicago.
