‘Clash of Clans’ Update Features: December 2015 Patch Sneak Peek Reveals Bigger Village Area, Additional Attack Time & More
The much-awaited "Clash of Clans" update is fast approaching and developer Supercell is keeping the loyal fanbase informed of what's in store. In the latest sneak peeks, more details were revealed including a bigger village area, longer attacking time and many more.
According to a report from iDigitalTimes, the sneak peek revealed a 21 percent increase in the tile space of the village, resulting in an overall area of 44 x 44 tiles that players can build their villages on. This offers the opportunity for players to be more creative with their layouts and defensive plans. Obstacles touching the grass surrounding the village will be moved to the new edges, but those inside will stay put.
Battle time is getting extended as well. Thirty more seconds will be added to the attack time so all players in all Town Hall levels now have three minutes and 30 seconds for each attack. Meanwhile, preparation for clan wars is reduced to 23 hours, so there's a buffer time to prepare for another war or attack.
Another sneak peek tackled a new feature: spell donations. Once the December patch lands, players will be able to give one spot of spells to their clanmates' castles. There's now a new donation menu, where the users will be able to see what the clanmates need and request. Other update features include the addition of a safety zone around the next button.
Supercell rep Jonas explained the significant changes in a YouTube interview with PlayClashOfClans. While the game has been very successful on the mobile platform, the representative said that a lot of players have come to rely on the Town Hall's "vanishing" capabilities to enjoy "Clash of Clans", taking away from the game experience the developer wants everyone to have.
"We've been thinking for a very long time, well over a year, and talking to dozens of players from all over, all different walks of the game, about how we can make our 'Clash' closer to that perfect game we'd like it to be," he continued. "The problem isn't just magic building that lets people vanish from the game, but all of these surrounding reasons why you have come to need to use it. ... We need to make shields better, we need to make progression less stressful, we need to make skillful attacking better rewarded, and we need to relentlessly seek out these problems in our game experience and address these things that are keeping people from enjoying 'Clash' to its fullest potential."
Jonas added, "As much as we all know that players like the Town Hall Shield, removing that ability to just vanish from the game is an absolutely mandatory part of it."
