LG G Pad 7.0 can now be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow via the use of a custom ROM. CyanogenMod 13 firmware has been made compatible for the LG tablet.

The "basic budget tablet" from LG, as described by CNET  can use CM13 Nightly builds to get the Marshmallow perks. But since it is still a nightly version, users can still experience some bugs once they installed the firmware.

Team Android shared the step-by-step installation guide on how to properly install the CM13 custom ROM on the LG G Pad 7.0. However, before proceeding with the actual installation process, there are some requirements to meet first.

For instance, it is very important to make a backup of all the important data and settings stored on the tablet before installing CyanogenMod 13 custom ROM. To do this, it will require the use of the TWRP or ClockWorkMod (CWM), two of the most recommended recovery tools by Android experts.

Furthermore, LG G Pad 7.0 owners should be fully aware that updating the tablet's OS through a custom firmware or any unofficial method will automatically void the warranty provided for the mobile device. The responsibility automatically goes to the owner in case the tablet gets bricked or damaged during the unofficial installation.

LG G Pad 7.0 users who have already decided to install CyanogenMod 13 regardless of possible results can start the installation by securing their copies of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow CM13 custom firmware and other files necessary. It should be saved in the root directory of the tablet's internal memory or its microSD card.

Turn off the LG G Pad 7.0 and boot into Recovery Mode. Users can easily do this by holding the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously.

Once the tablet is in Recovery Mode, use the TWRP tool to clean Dalvik Cache, Data, Cache and System. Then to finally install the firmware, pick the CyanogenMod 13 file previously stored on the device or memory card.

Once successfully installed, restart the device by selecting the Reboot System option .

GSM Arena's specs list for the tablet noted that the LG G Pad 7.0, launched in the market on July 2014, came pre-installed with Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. Right now, the firmware can only be officially upgraded with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

But with the CM13 ROM available now, users can easily experience Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Learn more about how to successfully install the custom firmware by visiting the Team Android post linked above.
