The World’s Tallest Ferris Wheel the 'High Roller' Opens In Las Vegas
A brand new Las Vegas Ferris wheel debuted to the public on Monday and it's taking sightseeing to astounding new heights.
The Las Vegas attraction goes by the name of High Roller and it currently stands as the tallest Ferris wheel in the world at 550-feet. Its height now tops the 541-foot Singapore Flyer and the 443-foot London Eye.
High Roller is located at The Linq, a newly developed entertainment plaza at the heart of the Las Vegas strip. Caesars Entertainment Corp is the creator of the impressive Ferris wheel and built the attraction as part of its $550 million Linq development deal. The Linq has been opening in phases since Dec. 27, 2013 and will eventually include 30 additional venues. The High Roller is the plaza's latest addition.
Before getting on to the ride, visitors are offered drinks from The Linq's bar to bring with them onboard.
High Roller general manager Eric Eberhart also offers cabin reservations aboard the High Roller for a multitude of events. There's already a cabin reservation for a summer wedding, according to Eberhart.
The High Roller features 28 cabins at 44,000 pounds that fits up to 40 people per cabin. Each rotating cabin has 300 square feet of glass to optimize the viewing experience of the strip and other Las Vegas landmarks. The cabins also include orange benches on each end for those who choose to sit.
A full ride on the High Roller takes about 30 minutes. Ticket prices are $24.95 in the daytime and $34.95 at night due to the impressive LED lights that illuminate the Ferris wheel. Those who do not want to wait in line for the ride can opt for the Express Pass that is priced at $59.95
Although the High Roller opened to rave reviews on Monday, it will have some stiff competition in the future.
The New York Wheel in Staten Island will soar 630 feet and is set to open in 2016. The Dubai Eye is also in the works to tower at 689 feet.
