After eight years with E! as host of Chelsea Lately, funny lady Chelsea Handler will part ways with the network following the end of her contract at the end of the year.

This announcement doesn't come as a surprise. Handler has been quite vocal about her disapproval of the 'Pop' network for some time now. A few weeks ago during an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Handler described E! as, "a sad, sad place to live," adding, "They don't know what they're doing. They have no ideas. It's a failure."

In addition to the ongoing tension between Handler and E!, her choice to leave may also stem from Chelsea Lately's declined television ratings. According to Deadline.com, "Chelsea Lately has dropped 14% in total viewers, -32% in adults 18-34 and -25% in women 18-34," from the period of October 2013 through February 2014.

Despite Handler's outspoken decision to leave the network, E! has yet to announce her official departure. "Chelsea has nine months left on her contract and E! will not comment on the future of Chelsea Lately at this time," the network said in a recent statement.

As Handler prepares to leave E!, she will look to her manager Irving Azoff to help continue building her brand. "Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas," said Azoff to The Hollywood Reporter.

Azoff also mentioned that Handler may end up in radio or hosting another television talk show. Her post-E! decision has yet to be confirmed.

Currently, Handler is No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list for her book, Uganda be Kidding Me. She is also working on a profitable 30-market stand up tour.
