Brace yourself, Harry Potter fans, here is some news to get you really excited. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Harry Potter spinoff, will be made into a trilogy of "megamovies." This was confirmed by Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros. CEO, during an interview with The New York Times.

It was back in September 2013 when rumors of an upcoming Harry Potter movie were first heard. The movie is based on the Hogwarts textbook written by J.K. Rowling, author of the famous Harry Potter books. Warner Bros. bought the movie rights to the book and has commissioned Rowling to write the script. The setting is in New York and takes place roughly 70 years prior to the Potter stories with a lead role in Newt Scamander, a magizoologist. It is not a direct follow-up to the Harry Potter movies but a continuation of the wizarding world that Rowling conceptualized.

It was quite a feat for Warner Bros. to persuade Rowling to push through with the spin-off contract. The book contains 42 pages according to @FilmRating, which leaves everyone a bit puzzled as to how it can be made into a trilogy. To make the movies more appealing, it was decided that Rowling should pen original screenplays, as she did for the Harry Potter books. This way it would also keep the movie plots a surprise.

However, the original Harry Potter cast may not be a part of "Fantastic Beasts". Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have been quoted saying they would not reprise their old roles again although they might do cameo roles. If that were true, the Harry Potter spin-off would definitely be a box office hit and bring fans to theaters.

The trilogy was said to have been motivated by the success of Warner Bros.' Hobbit franchise with Peter Jackson as director. To date, little is known as to who will direct Fantastic Beasts. Even the release date has not been announced. One thing is for sure: Fantastic Beasts producer David Heyman assured Harry Potter fans of an exciting "wizardry adventure."
