American Idol 2014 Judges, Winners, and Song Choices: Top 8 Sing Their Audition Songs
On this week's episode of American Idol: Season 13, the top 8 remaining contestants will be revisiting their nervous day one -- they are set to perform their audition songs.
Jena Irene previously spilled the beans in a post-show interview last week about the theme of the upcoming competition on Wednesday night (April 2). The contestants singing their audition songs will certainly allow the judges to better compare and figure out who have improved so far and grown to deserve the title of American Idol.
Several contestants will be singing their original songs -- this will be the first time in Idol history that contestants have had the chance to sing one of their original tunes for a live performance. Jessica Meuse will perform her excellent original, "Blue Eyed Lie," and Alex Preston will sing one of his, "Cross the River." Caleb Johnson will perform his loud original, "Into the Void," which defines who he is and who he wants to be as a singer.
Sam Woolf plans to sing Ed Sheeran's "Lego House." Although he has regressed a bit, Woolf will be able to give a great performance since the audition is one of his best performances so far, and he is highly comfortable with this song. C.J. Harris will perform "Soul Shine" by the Allman Brothers. He had some very rough weeks so hopefully he will be able to escape the bottom level.
Malaya Watson will be performing Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way," and Dexter Roberts will be singing "Drive" by fellow American Idol contestant/alum Casey James. Jena Irene will not disappoint by performing the Adele hit, "Rolling in the Deep."
Since they are quite familiar with these songs, the top eight contestants must try extra hard. Who will be sent home this week?
