San Antonio Spurs vs Memphis Grizzlies: Preview, TV Schedule & Where to Watch
The San Antonio Spurs are looking for their second win of the season over the Memphis Grizzlies when they visit the FedEx Forum on Thursday night. The Spurs halted the Grizzlies' four-game winning streak with a 92-82 win at AT&T Center last Nov. 22.
Kawhi Leonard scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Tony Parker had 18 and three assists in the victory over Memphis. Manu Ginobili contributed 15 points off the bench and Tim Duncan registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Spurs remained unbeaten at home with 95-70 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday after losing to the Chicago Bulls last Monday. Duncan had 16 points and 10 rebounds in 19 minutes of play while Leonard contributed 13 points and four assists while shooting just 33.3 percent from the field against the Bucks.
"It's coming around. We continue to improve defensively. It's what we want to do. A great effort all around. Pop is still on us about the mistakes we made, but you look up at the scoreboard and they score 70 in a night. That's the kind of 'D' we want to put out there each and every night," Duncan said after the game.
San Antonio need all the defense because Marc Gasol is coming off a career night against the New Orleans Pelicans last Tuesday. Gasol scored 38 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out six assists with four blocks while going 16-for-16 at the charity stripe in the 113-104 win.
"It's been a tough week to 10 days as far as me playing and I wanted to take a different approach to the game and it worked. I imposed a little bit my will instead of trying to get somebody else going or trying to read and see what was in front of me. I just went ahead and tried to be a little more aggressive," the Spaniard said.
Zach Randolph added 14 points and six rebounds while Courtney Lee and Matt Barnes contributed 13 points each off the Grizzlies bench. The Memphis just held 43.2 percent shooting in their last meeting against San Antonio and Gasol only finished with eight points.
The Grizzlies have only won twice in the past 13 games against San Antonio that include the four-game sweep in the 2013 Western Conference Finals.
Tip-off in Memphis starts at 9:30 p.m. ET. It will be nationally televised on TNT and broadcasted locally in the U.S. on FSSW and WMFS while it is available on NBATV in Canada.
