NFL Hall of Famer and Live! co-host, Michael Strahan made a surprising announcement on the set of Live! with Kelly and Michael this morning.

He's officially taking over mornings and is set to join ABC's Good Morning America.

The big news is that I'm gonna be on 'GMA' now," he told the Live! audience on Wednesday morning.

"So what is so surprising is I had a meeting, and we talked about the possibility there, and then I went to see Captain America with Samuel L. Jackson and I get out of screening and I check my messages and I'm on 'Good Morning America.'"

Not to worry though, Strahan also confirmed that he isn't leaving Kelly Ripa on the Live! show.

I just want everyone to know and [Kelly] to know that no matter what, this is my number one priority, and you [Kelly] are my number one priority, and I would never do anything to jeopardize the quality of what I do here."

So exactly how will Strahan manage both ABC shows in the morning?

USA today reports, "It won't be a full-time job, though. Strahan, will make frequent (though not daily) appearances at 7 a.m. before heading to his regular gig at Live! with Kelly and Michael, the popular syndicated talk show he co-hosts with Kelly Ripa."

Strahan will join the cast of 'GMA' following the departures of news anchor Josh Elliot and meteorologist Sam Champion. The cast now will now include Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos, Amy Robach, Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, and Ginger Zee.

ABC plans to release its official statement of the news later this week.

Michael Strahan continues to prove that the sky's the limit. The former NFL Hall of Fame defensive end has made an undoubtedly smooth transition from sports to broadcasting. He currently works on Fox NFL Sunday, Live! with Kelly and Michael, and now Good Morning America. What else will Strahan add to his television roster? Looks like we will just have to wait and see.
